"I didn't realize how little experience I had," said Gail Hunt, an executive assistant at the Westin Hotel in Indianapolis, who was in the first City Gardener class in 2002.Hunt came from a family of farmers, and for years she grew vegetables in her yard. But when her children fled the nest, she became more interested in flowers."I learned so much," she said. For Hunt, the City Gardener Program fueled a desire for more knowledge, and she went on to become a Marion County Master Gardener."I planted trees along the Monon (Trail) last fall," she said."White oaks, and I was so pleased to be a part of that."Of course, not everyone will become a Master Gardener, but Hunt said the City Gardener Program "appeals to everybody, no matter what size the yard.
