Seegert seeks re-election in Hanover
POSTED: October 9, 2009 Save | Print | Email | Read comments | Post a comment Email: "Seegert seeks re-election in Hanover" Fritz Seegert is seeking another term as Town of Hanover Councilman. "I am very excited about running for a second term on the Town Board," Seegert stated. "The last four years have been filled with challenges that I never thought I could be a part of solving. When I first ran, my goal was to be able to return something to the community as a lifetime resident of the town. I'm proud of the accomplishments we've had and I want to continue to work to improve our community." Seegert was asked what he feels have been his most enjoyable accomplishments as a town councilman. "I had the pleasure of working both with the town Planning and the Zoning boards for the past four years. I cannot say enough about the hard-working people on those boards," he said. "They do a wonderful job promoting the town and making decisions that benefit the community down the road. I was involved with many tough decisions with the board members, but we knew that making changes to reduce the burden on the taxpayers was always our priority. The town board has been able to cut cost at the town buildings with the help of our town employees. It has made us forerunners in going green." In addition to serving on the town board, Seegert is also a present member of the St. Albans Church Board, VFW, Amvets, and the LEPC in Erie, Pa. He is a past member of the Hook and Ladder and Emergency Squad as an EMT, the Festival of Grapes and the F&AM. "I would be honored to represent the people of the town of Hanover for one more term so that I can follow up on the work we have in place and face the challenges on the road ahead," Seegert went on to say. "My two biggest goals will be working on water management runoff with the planning board and helping to promote a safer roadway along the Route 5 & 20 business corridor. We need to continue our work with the DOT on our concerns." Seegert graduated from Silver Creek Central School, finished college at Alfred State (Wellsville) and worked for 30 years at an ice cream production facility. He currently works for Better Baked Foods in North East, Pa. Seegert has been married to his wife, Susan, for the past 36 years and they also have a beautiful daughter, Morgan, who resides in Raleigh, N.C. "I love this area and have never wanted to move. When my daughter left the house I felt it was time for me to give back to the community," Seegert said.
