Held at the historic Silverstone F1 circuit, the event gathers some of Europe's finest drivers, cars and teams for an all out drift competition at the lightning fast drift course. "Being our very first competition with the 86-X we came here focused on dialing in the car and eager to compare our pace to the competition. The UK drifting scene has always been a pioneering force here in Europe and a big inspiration for me personally!" Fredric, who currently runs Europe's first factory backed drift program with Toyota and Speedhunters, flew in from Las Vegas hot off his second place finish at Formula Drift Round 6 in the Need for Speed Scion tC drift car run by Papadakis Racing. This weekend, after qualifying first at Silverstone, Fredric and his team were able to take it one step further. Fredric will then fly back to California and Papadakis Racing to prepare for the Formula Drift finals at Irwindale Speedway mid-October. Click Here for Past Events on Fredric Aasbo

Comp Turbo - Fredric Aasbo
Comp Turbo - Fredric Aasbo Born and raised in the midst of the Scandinavian countryside, Fredric was quickly introduced to the Norwegian rally scene. As a boy he was let into go-karts, and proved his car control skills at an early age being very fast under slippery conditions. Discovering drifting a couple of years later got him hooked on this new form of motorsports. Quickly earning a reputation for combining super aggressive drifting with a humble personality in the pits, Fredric toured the North European drifting circuit for two years. Aasbo made an unforgettable impression on the Prodrift European Series. With 30+ victories and multiple championship titles in the North European scene and with a dream of going up against the best, Fredric started his US quest by competing at select rounds of the Formula Drift championship in 2010. Formula Drift Fredric Aasbo sent shockwaves throughout the Formula Drift scene in his 2010 rookie season as he started taking out Formula Drift champions from the get-go. Nicknamed "The Champkiller" and quickly becoming an icon of the David vs. Goliath drifting battles, Fredric ultimately earned the prestigious 2010 Formula Drift Rookie of the Year award. Fredric kicked off the 2011 season by driving the Team Need for Speed Japan Auto Toyota Supra to victory at the Formula Drift Middle East Yas Marina Circuit Invitational - his first ever win at Formula Drift sanctioned event. Only two weeks later, he made his way through the pack for a third place podium finish at the Formula Drift Global Challenge in Qatar. Fredric hangs it all out! The crowd loves him, the judges love him, he is very committed and he is a great driver. Going all out no matter the circumstances, Fredric has garnered a strong transatlantic fan following spanning across the United States, Europe and the Middle East, reaching all the way to drifting's home cradle: Japan. Teaming up with Hankook Tire, Scion Racing and Papadakis Racing for the 2013 season has made for an impressive international drifting schedule consisting of the world's most prominent drifting events. The 2013 seven stop North American Formula Drift Championship Series will see Fredric and his crew compete in the freshly reworked 2014 Hankook Tire Scion Racing tC. After having won the previous two Gatebil Powerslide competitions in June and in July, Fredric Aasbo and his crew earned top honors yet again at the final Gatebil Festival of the season, making the Euro season a hat trick success. Despite his hectic competition schedule, Fredric also entered the entertainment business this summer by becoming a core ingredient of a North European movie production that is set to hit cinema screens next year. "Burning the Movie" is a modern day Cannonball Run meets Fast and the Furious car movie set in the beautiful scenery of Norway. The Speedhunters Toyota 86-X race car plays an integral role of the main cast and Fredric is onboard as a precision stunt driver. With the 2013 European competition schedule fully completed, Fredric has a clear focus for the remainder of the season. "My main priority is of course the Formula Drift Championship in the US. Papadakis Racing and I are currently sitting 4th in the championship standings with only 33 points up to the lead after what has been our most consistent season as a team so far. I am confident the 2014 Hankook Tire Scion Racing tC is the best car in the series right now and we have our eyes firmly set on the prize." Fredric is currently on his way to Formula Drift Round 6 at Texas Motor Speedway. Fredric is currently on his way to Formula Drift Round 4 in New Jersey. The Formula Drift program is the definitive centre point of his competition focus, and they are currently sitting in fifth place overall after having climbed our way back up the Formula Drift standings following the season opener in Long Beach. (September 15, 2011) - The last two weekends have been nothing short of awesome for Team Need for Speed, as drifting legends Fredric Aasbo and Darren McNamara made quite an impact on the European drift scene. Fredric, piloting his Team NFS Japan Auto Supra, and Darren, dropping jaws with the D-Mac86, spent their time off between US Formula Drift rounds to compete in a few prestigious European drift events. "After I first caught the drifting bug watching Japanese videos, the UK and Irish scene was what really fueled my hunger to start drifting myself," noted Fredric. "The Prodrift Ireland and various UK competitions and battles have since then been a big inspiration and benchmark for me, and finally being able to get to compete at the very heart of European drifting, has brought it all full circle." Fredric In a Race Fredric Aasbo at the winners circle The Need for Speed teammates first competed September 4, 2011 at Silverstone Circuit for British Drift Championship (BDC) Trax. Qualifying high, with Fredric in 2nd and Darren in 5th, the two drivers would battle their way through the competition only to meet each other in the final four. "It felt like an unbelievable victory for my team, sponsors, and friends; and a victory that we had earned! A huge thanks to everyone that put on such an amazing show and made all this happen! Drifting has taken me some amazing places, and Silverstone is definitely one of them." One week later, Team Need for Speed drivers slid into Ireland for the Prodrift finale at Mondello Park. Darren and Fredric were not the only Formula Drift stars on-site - current points leader Dai Yoshihara also made the trip out to compete. Fredric was faced with the 2010 Prodrift Champion, James Deane, for his top 8 battle. Fredric would finish the event in 5th place overall. "Europe's equivalent to the 'House of Drift' is not just a very fast layout pushing the cars and the drivers to the absolute limit," says Fredric, "but it is also home to such an amazingly even semi-pro and pro drifting field. "It was great seeing Fredric and D-Mac taking a 1st and 2nd place while in the mix with Europe's best drifters." "I think even more international collaboration between series, drivers and teams is the way to move forward," says Fredric, "and my gut feeling after the European events we have done this year is that it's been an absolute honor to meet everybody, and hopefully we've been able to help unite the drifting world even more. A big, big thanks goes out to every single one of you that helped make the Team Need for Speed Europe Drift Tour a reality and a success!" Next up for Team Need for Speed, Fredric and Darren will return to Formula Drift October 7-8 for their final round of the 2011 Championship.
