The Attorney General Judge Frederick Werema was yesterday forced to clarify on the decision by Central Bank (BoT) to pay the Independent Power Tanzania Limited (IPTL) through escrow account.
said the funds used to pay IPTL
were not public money and that the government doesn't keep money in escrow account.
explained that the issue of IPTL payments resulted from a conflict between the shareholders.
added: "The government doesn't keep money in escrow account...the money paid to IPTL
is not public funds".
claimed that some Members of Parliament were spreading wrong and false information concerning IPTL payment.
