Lexington, Ky., Sept. 21, 2004 , Fred Messmann, immediate past president of the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), received two awards from the organization at its annual conference held Sept. 11-17, 2004, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
For all the hard work and dedication Messmann has shown during his
one-year term as the nonprofit organization,s president, NASBLA officials presented the outgoing president with the Bonner Award
and the President,s Award.
During the past year, Messmann
work cut out for him.While continuing to serve as the boating law administrator for Nevada and promoting boating safety within his state,s borders, Messmann spent innumerable hours at NASBLA,s helm, guiding the organization in its effort to make boating safe and enjoyable for all. Messmann
,s efforts and amount of time on the road this past year has paid off.His
devotion and passion about boating safety brought the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators
to a new level.
has established new partnerships and further strengthened longtime affiliations with its boating safety partners, including the U.S. Coast Guard, the American League of Anglers and Boaters
, United States Power Squadrons, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, the States Organization
for Boating Access, the National Boating Safety Council, the National Water Safety Congress, and the American Canoe Association
.In addition, Messmann worked diligently with NASBLA,s Executive Board and with Executive Director George Stewart in continuing a strategy for accomplishing the organization,s goal of safer and more enjoyable boating, and the associated funding to carry it out.
