He is a board member of MyJewishLearning.com, The Jewish Education Project, treasurer of JESNA (Jewish Educational Services of North America), and a member of a COJIR (Commission on Jewish Identity and Renewal) task force of UJA for Communal Jewish Education.

Fred is a part-time congregational school teacher and an educator for the Museum of Jewish Heritage of New York.

Formerly, he was Judaic Chairman of UJA's National Young Leadership Cabinet and an active solicitation trainer for UJA from 1975 to 1990.
For 43 years, Fred was actively involved in the diamond business and president of Claar Bros., Inc. from 1971 to 2004.
