Our actions in the field will reflect not only upon us but on all hunters," Chaves said. "There are some compelling reasons for owning ATVs, such as easier access to mountain roads and hauling harvested game," said Chaves.

Two of the California boaters and one of the Arizona boaters were arrested. ,Of particular concern is that we arrested 6 of the 35 Nevadans who were operating boats that day,, said Frank Chaves, NDOW supervising game warden. Officers from NDOW, the National Park Service and Arizona Game and Fish Department staffed the checkpoint. ,One of our officers spent the day manning a boating information booth at the launch ramp and he was amazed by the amount of beer, wine coolers and other alcohol that was being placed into boats,, Chaves said. ,This and the number of arrests that were made indicate that there is a problem with boaters consuming alcohol while operating their boats., On the other hand, Chaves said that he was encouraged by the fact that most boaters were aware that children under 12 were wearing lifejackets as is required when boating in Nevada. Cottonwood Cove is located on the Nevada side of Lake Mohave. It is east of the community of Searchlight and can be reached via State Route 164. ,Boaters who are operating their vessels while intoxicated will be arrested and taken to jail. While we want boaters to have fun, we also want them to be safe and sober while operating on their vessels,, Chaves said.
