COVINGTON, Ky., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In a move designed to strengthen Ashland Inc.'s (NYSE: ASH) technological expertise, Dr. Frances E. Lockwood, senior vice president of technology for The Valvoline Company, and Dr. Donald S. Mueller, vice president of research and technology innovation for Ashland Specialty Chemical Company, will exchange positions for approximately six months, effective immediately.
currently oversees Valvoline's chemists and technicians at the New Product Laboratory in Lexington, Ky., as well as Australia, the Netherlands and Valvoline packaging plants in North America.
...Lockwood earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, N.Y., and master's and doctorate's degrees, both in chemical engineering, at Penn State.Over the last 25 years, she has served in a variety of research and development, planning, and technical management positions in the oil, automotive and metalworking industries.Lockwood joined Ashland in 1994.
For the past eight years, she
has been responsible for development and quality of automotive products marketed under Valvoline's
brand names.In 1996, she
assumed worldwide responsibility for all Valvoline products and technical services, and in 1998 she
obtained project approval for Valvoline's new, $4.5 million products laboratory, in Lexington.Lockwood became Valvoline's senior vice president of technology in 2001.
