Floyd Vrtiska has resigned his seat on the Nebraska State College Board of Trustees.
Vrtiska, 84, of Table Rock, Neb., represented southeast Nebraska's Legislative District 1 from 1993 to 2005. He resigned from the State College Board effective Jan. 19.
Gov. Dave Heineman announced Wednesday that he is accepting applications to fill out Vrtiska's six-year term, which runs until January 2013.
Vrtiska said that at 84, he felt it was time to "slow down.
