She oversees the quality of care and evidence-based activities of the Hoskins Center, including Preferred Practice Patterns, Ophthalmic Technology Assessments, Medicare data claim analyses, and performance measures which are incorporated into the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Physicians Quality Reporting System, and the Practicing Ophthalmologists Learning System, upon which the Maintenance of Certification examination is based. She has directed the Academy’s health information technology activities, including development of Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standards, Systematized Nomenclature for Medicine (SNOMED) terminology, and Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Eye Care testing and demonstrations as well as development of criteria for ophthalmology-specific electronic health records.
