C.E.O / President
is the nexus of 35 years of hard work and imagination from automotive aftermarket veteran Fleet Thompson
has been a career that has taken him through every aspect of the performance product lifecycle...new product development, manufacturing, packaging creation, cataloging, outside sales management, marketing, distribution, media interface ...and, along the way, garnered him considerable industry recognition that includes several SEMA packaging and new product awards.
But the writing was on the walls early in Fleet's life.
Born in 1948 in Long Beach, California, Fleet
always had a love for high-performance, and by the age of 17, he
was already building cars and racing at "The Pond" (California's legendary San Fernando Drag Strip).
Not long after, Fleet
slicks for wings and embarked on a seven-year hitch in the Navy Air Corps
Upon return from serving his country, Fleet received a degree in mechanical engineering before starting the long journey through the automotive performance aftermarket.
The companies he
has worked for comprise a veritable Who's Who of hot rodding and high performance...Cyclone Headers, B&M Racing & Performance, Bill Stroppe & Son
, Competition Engineering, and American Accessories.
Fleet put his money where his imagination was and began manufacturing his own line of performance parts and founding Speed Parts Distributors.
Always the visionary, Fleet's
extensive industry and enthusiast experience enabled him to see where the performance aftermarket was heading.
In the late 1990s he
became a pioneer of the automotive Internet with the creation of hotrodcafe.com.
But where one trail ends, another begins.
is the owner and driving force behind Internet automotive enthusiast phenomenon PerformanceMotorsportsNews.com.
