With roots in public service, Gungor started her professional career at the Government Accountability Office in Washington, D.C., where she served as an analyst on the Strategic Issues and Homeland Security and Justice teams.

Gungor has served as adjunct faculty for the political science department at Hofstra University, where she received her bachelors of art degree in political science.
She received her master's degree in public administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.
A resident of Oyster Bay, she
has been a speaker to industry events and is currently working on an article for an industry magazine.
