March 1, 2012 (Toronto, ON) - Segasist Technologies, a Canadian software company developing automated image contouring tools for medical applications, has today announced that its newly appointed Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Farzad Khalvati, will be the Keynote Speaker at the Canadian Embassy's 3rd Annual Canadian Life Sciences Night in Vienna on March 2nd, 2012.
The Keynote address will be delivered at the Austria Center Vienna
during the annual European Congress of Radiology Meeting taking place from March 1st, 2012 to March 5th, 2012.
The European Congress of Radiology
is one of the largest international medical meetings in Europe and the second-largest radiological meeting in the world.
address will focus on a solution to the problem of inter- and intra-observer variability in the contouring of medical images, and will include a demonstration of the Segasist software platform and the company's new Reconcillio™ consensus software solution.
The address will be followed by an evening reception at the Official Residence of the Ambassador of Canada to Austria.
Dr. Farzad Khalvati received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2008.
expertise and research interests include High-Performance image processing, medical imaging, and reconfigurable computing (FPGA design).
Ph.D. studies at Waterloo, Dr. Khalvati
designed and developed a new optimization technique for image processing algorithms for both software and hardware platforms.
Dr. Khalvati is also an adjunct faculty member of the Systems Design Engineering department at the University of Waterloo.
has won several awards for his
research and his
publications include 3 US patent applications and 13 journal and conference papers.
helped to develop the first prototype of Segasist software in 2007.
He joined the company as the senior scientist in 2009 and has been instrumental in research and development and acquiring the FDA clearance for our first product, Segasist P-AC 1.0.
