Seconding the motion, the Majority leader and member for Serrekunda East, Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, said the purpose of the Bill was to address the use of sexual violence, which he said, is on the 'increase' in the country.
He singled out rape and its related sexual offences as unacceptable in any modern society, saying "I think the Bill is enough deterrent for all of us to be mindful of rape".

BANJUL,January 07 -- An APRC Yai Compin working at the KMC , Mberry Sowe, has strongly denied allegations of undermining Hon Fabakary Tombong Jatta, APRC member for Serrekunda East Constituency's re-election bid.According to a story carried in the Daily Observer Thursday December 27, 2001, it was alleged that Mberry Sowe bribed Isatou Jarju, an APRC stalwart in a bid to rally support for an independent candidate opposed to the incumbent, Hon Fabakary Tombong Jatta.In an interview with the Daily Observer , Mberry Sowe denied the allegation, describing it as "baseless and malicious.Since 1994 I have been supporting President Jammeh and the APRC.
