The Connecticut Orthopaedic Society recently elected Ridgefield resident Dr. F. Scott Gray to serve as the organization's president. Gray is a founding partner of Connecticut Family Orthopedics, with offices in Danbury, Ridgefield, Southbury and Bridgeport. Dr. Gray is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a member of the Connecticut State Medical Society and Fairfield County Medical Association. He is a foot and ankle surgical specialist at Danbury Hospital, and served as the Orthopaedic Trauma Coordinator for many years. Gray has a history of innovative and pioneering contributions to the surgery department at Danbury Hospital. He was the first to perform cartilage transplant surgery in the ankle, and the first to perform a total ankle replacement in western Connecticut.

Dr. Gray has studied at the University of Rhode Island and Georgetown University School of Medicine, and has completed a surgical internship and residency at Maine Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Gray also has specialty training in foot and ankle surgery. The year after his joining Connecticut Family Orthopedics, Dr. Gray established an office in Ridgefield, CT. Ten years later he was the co-founder of the Danbury Foot and Ankle Center, the first of its kind in specialty care.
He has served as the Orthopedic Trauma Coordinator at Danbury Hospital and is a board member of the Connecticut Orthopedic Society. This has brought him to active involvement in medical politics and legislative efforts on behalf of both patients and fellow physicians.

Dr. Gray graduated from the University of Rhode Island with Honors. He attended the Georgetown University School of Medicine where he did research on bone healing physiology. He did a general surgical internship and one year of residency at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, and then returned home to Boston where he did his orthopedic residency at Tufts University School of Medicine. It was then that he received specialty training in foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Gray joined Connecticut Family Orthopedics in 1987 and established a professional relationship with Dr. Cassels in Ridgefield in 1988.

Dr. Gray has had specialized training in spinal instrumentation and is our authority on complex spine surgery. He has enormous energy and tirelessly attends a busy orthopedic practice both in Danbury and Ridgefield and is the Orthopedic Trauma Coordinator at Danbury Hospital. He is a consultant to the Board of Physicians Choice IPA where they have tapped his knowledge and expertise on managed care contract negotiations. His activism in medical politics remains respected throughout the state.
