He is a retired Judge for the Municipal Court of East Orange and Municipal Court of Montclair. Mr. Booker serves as the Executive Director of the Newark Parking Authority and General Counsel to the Orange Housing Authority. Mr. Booker concentrates his practice in commercial and residential real estate development, condominium cooperative conversions, tax abatement, real estate tax appeals, litigation, public entity representation and entertainment law. He has represented numerous well-known artists such as Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J, Jodeci, Gerald Lavert, Freddie Jackson, Evander Holyfield, KG of NaughtyByNature, and many others. His affiliations include the American Bar Association, Essex County Bar Association, National Bar Association/Judicial Committee - Life Member, Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association (BESLA), Essex County Municipal Court Judges Association, American Trial Lawyers Association of New Jersey, Garden State Bar Association, National Institute of Municipal Law Officers and American Judges Association. Mr. Booker has donated and continues to donate his time to various community organizations. He has served in different capacities, such as Member of the Orange Orphans Society, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Member of the Committee of Managers-Llewellyn Park, Member of the Essex County Country Club, and Member of the Board of Trustees of Pine Forge Academy. He also holds the distinction of being the recipient of several awards including the National Bar Association, Presidential Achievement Award - July, 2002, and the NAACP Thurgood Marshall Freedom Fund Award - November, 2001. Ernest R. Booker received his B.S. from Union College, Lincoln, Nebraska in 1970, and then attended Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey where he completed the Juris Doctorate Program. He was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar and United States District Court of New Jersey in December, 1973.
