Created by Eric W. Lindahl and featuring BRCC and local Christian talent, the event immediately established its trademark creativity and unexpected variety and scope of music. The event's purpose was to inspire and infuse listeners of all ages and tastes with the joy of, and reason for, the Christmas season.
Eric and wife Robin Allison Lindahl produced the concert in 1996 at Doherty Auditorium with a large and diverse cast which featured angel dancers and an early appearance by the future-powerhouse Choral Majority gospel choir.
The NYTSN name was missing but the spirit and content continued during 1999 - 2001 as Eric joined award-winning composer Peter Vantine and One Foundation regional arts ministry to produce Christmas concerts with The Choral Majority and acclaimed Boston gospel ensemble Confirmation, under the direction of David Coleman, at New England Bible Church in Andover.
Eric became Worship Arts Minister at Free Christian Church, Andover, where Christmas concerts were presented every year, but he brought back the NYTSN name in 2003, followed in 2004 by the first performance at downtown Andover's Old Town Hall, to capacity crowds. After two packed-house performances in 2006, it was time to expand.
The show moved down the road (literally) to the Merrimack College campus of North Andover in 2007. Under the mantle of their new regional arts ministry, Blue Window Arts Group, producers Lindahl and Lindahl now call the state-of-the-art Rogers Center for the Arts home, continuing NYTSN's evolution as a professional production.

As friends, Christians, church music leaders and fellow music lovers, Peter Vantine, 33, of Rowley and Eric W. Lindahl, 37, of Watertown have many things in common.
As part of the concert, the gospel choir and band known as The Choral Majority, also founded by Mr. Vantine and Mr. Lindahl, will perform.
A few months after One Foundation formed, Mr. Lindahl was approached by Lawrence-area clergy with an offer of directing the music for a crusade led by Hispanic evangelist Luis Palau.
"Since Peter and I were partners, we did it together," Mr. Lindahl said.
Currently, home base for The Choral Majority is Free Christian Church in Andover, where Mr. Lindahl is full-time minister of worship and music, but the group's members hail from Congregational, Catholic, Episcopal, Hispanic, Assembly of God and other congregations.
"A big part of One Foundation's and Choral Majority's mission has been to really foster unity amongst Christians in our area (eastern New England)," Mr. Lindahl said.
Something else the two organizations have been fostering is a following.Last year's concert, held at Middleton Congregational Church, attracted a crowd too large for the venue and forced organizers to find a new location.Tonight's show at Masconomet is expected to bring in more than 500.
Besides The Choral Majority, tonight's show will feature local and Boston-area talents such as gospel vocalist Billy Pezzulo; Andy Luman of Christian rock group Brother Sun; Mr. Lindahl and his wife, Robin Allison Lindahl; and other One Foundation artists such as pop and country singer Alice Fraleigh, rhythm and blues performer Emily Powers and the Celtic-influenced Lynde Weston.
