Eric Kalmbach, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Kalmbach directs the operations of NorthGrid Solar delivering state-of-the-art rooftop solar PV systems under the Ontario FIT program.
is one of the pioneers of solar PV technology in Canada. Since 1982 his
involvement in photovoltaics has taken him around the world to every continent except Australia.
Prior to co-founding NGS in 2009, Mr. Kalmbach
launched Generation PV Inc.
in 2001 with the help of his sons Jason and David.
As CEO, Mr. Kalmbach was responsible for the overall direction and growth of the company.
Cumulatively, more than 40,000 Canadian-assembled solar systems have been deployed throughout the world to date by Generation PV Inc.
Specially designed and engineered solar systems which are able to withstand the harsh Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic coastal areas were developed for the Canadian Coast Guard
Under Mr. Kalmbach's
direction, Generation PV Inc.
developed exceptional expertise in power system design, integration, installation and commissioning of photovoltaic systems, solar thermal systems and small wind turbines.
Mr. Kalmbach was a shareholder and Director of Sales and Marketing for Lenbrook Energy Systems, a division of the Lenbrook Group (founders of Clearnet Communications, sold to Telus Corp in 2000 for C$6.6B), before starting Generation PV Inc..
developed extensive international business in more than 60 countries and personally traveled to projects in over 50 countries in Africa, Asia, Central America and South America.
Mr. Kalmbach serves on the boards of various NGO's, some of which are involved in rural development.
In this work he
has visited remote locations such as the Ituri rain forest in the NE Congo and the mountains of northern Pakistan to assist with development projects including solar powered rural health clinics and hospitals, water pumping and schools.
In November 2008, he
was in Tanzania and rural Zambia to assist with a hospital power system combining a river turbine, solar power and diesel generators.
