Robert A. Cardamone, Executive Director of Community Action, Inc., announced that First Commonwealth Bank donated $1,000 on behalf of their employee Eric L Funk, Business Banker.
The Golden Tower recipient for March was Eric Funk, who chose Community Action, Inc. as the local beneficiary. Eric stated he chose Community Action, Inc. because of the many ways it is involved in the local community.
Eric was selected for the award because of the numerous ways he is involved in the community. He is currently serving his second term as the President of the Board of Directors for the Clarion Area School District, where he has been a board member for eight years. He is also an active member of several other boards of directors, including: ten-year member of the Clarion County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors; Treasurer of the Venango Training and Development Corporation Board of Directors; three-year member of the Clarion County Industrial Development Authority Board of Directors; and three-year member of the Clarion Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. Clarion Area School Board President Eric Funk said the board not only needs to fill Ion's position on the board but also Ion's spot on the finance committee.
Board president Eric Funk said both individuals are highly qualified.
"I am certain either of them would be a true asset to our board but choosing will be difficult," he said.
The board will vote at Wednesday's regular business meeting by secret ballot to identify the successful candidate.
"If there are ties we will keep voting until someone wins," said Funk.
It's back. Interstate 80 toll plan resurfaces, 13 Oct 2009 [cached]
Talk of tolling I-80 began two years ago, said Eric Funk, of the Clarion Area Chamber of Business and Industry. "We still don't have a lot of answers to what I believe are very important questions," he said.
In addition, Funk said, the tolls would be increased in order for the Turnpike Commission to pay back the debt incurred by borrowing $540 million to $750 million a year to maintain the roads.
When the 50-year lease agreement expires, he said, residents would have paid off a debt of $38 billion to $73 billion to the Turnpike Commission.

"Our concerns remain and still have grown based on a lack of answers," Eric Funk, president of the Clarion Area Chamber of Business & Industry's board of directors, said Wednesday.
"We will continue to lead the fight here," Funk added.
Funk and other local officials question the speed with which state legislators passed Act 44.
"It should not have occurred at the 12th hour," he said.
Funk took aim at the manner in which some state officials ask tolling opponents for alternatives.
"They look to us for solutions," he said."I don't think that's fair."
The 2005 PennDOT study that recommended I-80 not be tolled at this time "has basically been cast aside," said Funk.
"What has fundamentally changed?"he said."Nothing."
The tolling would be a "Band-Aid to a much bigger problem," Funk said.
