Phil Pecsok, partner of Crowell Weedon Investment Banking, and Eric Beckerman, founder of Golden State Promotions (a sports memorabilia and collectibles trade-show company), founded the NAXCOM On-Line Exchange in February.
..."Once our company dominates the marketplace in these niche categories, we plan to expand into other vertical markets, like books, CDs, DVDs, and other collectibles," says CEO Eric Beckerman, who notes that eBay began by listing only PEZ dispensers in September 1995.
Two years ago, Beckerman
and Pecsok were talking about the amazing success of eBay
and how it has dominated market share with such an inefficient business model, the auction.
Meanwhile, Eric Beckerman
grew up in Brentwood but attended Palisades High and was an All-League third baseman on the team that lost in the '85 City championship game at Dodger Stadium. He played baseball for the University of Wisconsin and, in 1990, founded Golden State Promotions, which has become the second largest collectibles show promoter in the United States and was the forerunner of NAXCOM.He
has lived in the Palisades since 1991.NAXCOM
recently opened a Series B Round looking to raise $1.5 million at .28 cents per share ($3 million valuation). The company has already received $500,000 in commitments and will close the round by the end of July."We figure we may need one more round after this to get to profitability, but with the amount of items being listed on the Exchange, and once we begin a marketing campaign, who knows, we may not need an additional round," Beckerman
If the company succeeds, then perhaps NAXCOM
(www.NAXCOM.com) may consider changing the company name to 'Palibay.'
