Emma Young Research Divisional Lead - Medicine MSc, BSc (Hons) Emma is the Research Divisional Lead for Medicine at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is part of the South East Division of the Stroke Research Network. She has 8 years of research experience which includes both academic and clinical research. Emma's background is in Health Psychology, researching informal carers and Multiple Sclerosis. During her MSc in Health Psychology she worked at Hillingdon Hospital in R&D and working with patients with COPD in the Breathlessness Clinic. Prior to her role here, she worked as a lead researcher at the University of Surrey on the New Dynamics of Ageing NDA Initiative project; Sleep in Ageing where she was responsible for carrying out all fieldwork, data collection, and analysis in 10 care homes, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative design and analytical dissemination. The Ageing NDA initiative is a seven year research programme, and is the largest and most ambitious research programme on ageing ever mounted in the UK. Emma currently has 3 publications in peer-reviewed journals following this research and has disseminated the findings at numerous academic national conferences. She has been responsible for building our renowned stroke research portfolio in the Trust, which includes acute, rehabilitative, treatment and prevention trials.
