Emily Rae VitaleVIRGINIA BEACH -- Emily Rae Vitale, 73, of Virginia Beach and formerly of the Triple Cities, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, as a result of an automobile accident. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Joseph D. Vitale; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Debra Vitale of Virginia Beach, Fred and Laurie Vitale of Burlingame, Calif., Matthew and Laura Vitale of Winter Park, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan Vitale Deni and C.J. Deni of Alexandria, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Patricia Eltz of Binghamton; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Paul Zemek of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Laura, Joseph and Giana; and several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Wilson Memorial Nursing School as a registered nurse in 1953 and started her career in nursing in pediatrics at Wilson.She concluded her career, after holding many private practice duties, as a hospice nurse where she retired.She was a member of Nimmo United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach. A funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Boulevard United Methodist Church Binghamton by the Rev. Craig Mark, pastor.Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery.The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Barber Memorial Home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Program at Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905.
