Approval of Interlocal Agreement-Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan COUNCILOR COUMBS MOVED, SECONDED BY COUNCILOR BARRETT, THAT THE CENTRALIA CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN LEWIS COUNTY AND THE CITY OF CENTRALIA REGARDING SERVICES TO UPDATE THE MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN... Community Development Director Emil Pierson addressed the Council and noted that the City has already adopted a Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan in February of 2004.
added it is the purpose of this agreement to provide a mechanism for the updating and rewriting of the plan to comply with the requirements of FEMA
and prepare for future funding requests.
reviewed the proposed time line for the plan and noted that the County would be paying the City $75,000 to prepare the document.
Mr. Pierson addressed the Council and noted that he met with the Drop family and their attorney, along with the Ms. Murphy-Olson, and came to what they felt was a good alternative.
briefly reviewed the three changes staff was recommending, which included areas in buffers, zero rise flood plain overlay and general standards.
