Niles North Band Director Elton Eisele
Elton Eisele, Niles North's band director, said two pieces were selected last spring for the younger band members to play. The first, "Shipwreck," will be played by the junior high schoolers alone. The second, "Clash Of The Ironclads," will be played by the younger musicians along with their Niles North musical mentors. The bands have been rehearsing the pieces separately since the beginning of the school year, but they will play them for the first time together on Tuesday at a rehearsal during the day. Eisele noted that the concert gives the younger musicians a terrific opportunity for meet fellow musicians from other schools as well as seeing what high school band is all about.

One of the more memorable moments of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007 was the wonderful performance by EAA's first-ever AirVenture Concert Band, a collection of volunteer members who opened the Wednesday evening program at Theater in the Woods. (See their performance.) Conductor Elton Eisele, EAA 216273, who is the band director at Niles North High School in suburban Chicago, was the driving force behind putting the band together, and he's volunteered to do it again for AirVenture 2008.
