ELMIRA T. SULEYMANOVA
Elmira Suleymanova was born on 17 July, 1937 in Baku city.
In 1959 she
graduated from the faculty of chemistry at the Baku State University
and started to work at the Institute of Petro-chemical processes of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences
Has served as a head of laboratory, chief scientist.
Holds a degree of Ph.D., doctor of Chemistry (1980), professor (1982), member of the New York Academy of Sciences
is one of the Leaders of the International Women's Movement.
Elmira Suleymanova was a member of the Pardon Commission at the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, member of the Coordinating Council of the World Azerbaijanis.
She is "Honorable Chemist" and the Innovator of USSR, Laureat of the Y. Mammadaliyev Prize.
was awarded with the order of "Honor Sign", "Veteran of Labour".
was elected, out of three nominated candidates, as the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, by the majority of 111 votes out of 112 participating members of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan
, and the same day she
made an oath of the first Azerbaijani Ombudsman at the Parliament.
