Ellsworth C. Dent, Delta (Emporia State University) was the longest serving president of the Fraternity from 1927 to 1936. Prior to serving as president he was on the Fraternity Board of Directors in the then elected office of editor. In professional life, Brother Dent was a pioneer in educational and industrial films production. He co-founded Coronet Films, which was later merged into Esquire, Inc. He produced the first Sigma Tau Gamma film. He retired in 1972 as a Senior Vice-President. The Ellsworth C. Dent Man of the Year Award is named in his honor.

Named in honor of Ellsworth C. Dent, Second National President, Delta '22, Emporia State University in Kansas, this award recognizes the top five graduating senior leaders in Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.
Ellsworth C. Dent, Delta '22 was a charter member of our chapter, which was chartered at Emporia State University, January 20, 1922. Dent was elected provisional Editor at a planning meeting held October 24-25, 1924 to prepare for the first Grand Conclave (now Grand Chapter). He was elected Grand Editor at that First Conclave, May 30, 1925. He served in that office until December 1927 when he was elected Second National President at the Fourth Conclave. He served nine years, stepping down at the Eighth Conclave in 1936.
