Mr. Vasicek served as a private first class in the U.S. Marine Corp working on amphibious tractors in San Diego. He graduated from El Campo High School where he was an outstanding athlete.Mr. Vasicek attended the University of Southern California where he played football for the Trojans.While at USC he played in the Rose Bowl.He transferred to The University of Texas at Austin where he played football under coaches D.X. Bible and Blair Cherry.As a Longhorn he played in the Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in petroleum engineering.Mr. Vasicek worked for many oil companies in the Permian Basin, including Marathon Oil, Handley Co. and Cherry Brothers.He founded V.F. Petroleum in 1963 and then formed Bessero Oil Company with his son in 1994.
