ELIZABETH CARLIN METZ (Director) is the founding Artistic Director of Chicago's critically acclaimed Vitalist Theatre, now in its 15th season. She directed The Three Lives of Lucie Cabrol, The Mill on the Floss, the world premiere of Anung's First American Christmasand award-winning productions of The Night Season, Mother Courage and her Children, and Jeff nominated productions of A Passage to India and Life is a Dream. She worked as an assistant director at the Mark Taper Forum (Los Angeles) and assistant to Ariel Dorfman on the premiere of his play Widowsadapted from his novel with Tony Kushner. She also served as a Directing Associate with California Shakespeare Festival where she served as voice and text coach and directed As You Like It. She has served on the Theatre Panel of the Illinois Arts Council and presented professionally at numerous conferences, most recently the Dah Teater Festival and Conference in Belgrade, Serbia. She has served on the faculties of the Professional Actor Training Programs at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, the University of Washington, and the University of California at Davis where she also administered the graduate directing program. She is Chair and Professor of Theatre at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois.
