She received a Telly for New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson's "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose" public service announcements and the Luminaria Award for her leadership in the New Mexico film industry.
She is also considered the leading casting director in the New Mexico film and television industry, with a client list that includes blockbuster films and hit television series. She has worked with the Hollywood elite as well as on small independent productions.
Her passion for high quality and creativity manifests in her documentaries on the problems of hunger in the richest country in the world, to the problems facing students in our overcrowded schools. She has written and produced for the New Mexico Department of Education, New Mexico Health Services, New Mexico Department of Transportation, The Samaritan Counseling Center's business ethics awards, among others.
With a degree in journalism and a background in reporting, Gabel has an eye for the story in every genre, whether a commercial, documentary, educational/instructional production or feature film. She has an uncanny ability to sue interviews in a moving and motivating manner. Having worked on film and television productions statewide, her knowledge base also includes an understanding of the crews, locations, talent and film incentives in New Mexico. She has worked with crews on large budget films that include No Country for Old Men, Appaloosa, Terminator Salvation and The Book of Eli.
She published her first news article at 19 and went on to work as an editor, print reporter, book reviewer and news photographer.
