Lee has served as Cass County District Attorney since 1995, previously working as assistant district attorney for the county.
The lawyer formerly had a private practice and was staff attorney for the State Department of Highways
.He graduated from A&M-Commerce in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in history, the same academic department that selected him as an ambassador.Lee received his doctor of jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law.
