Eli Hassine to head SMBC's global ECA drive
News | 1 May 2009 People & places Eli Hassine to head SMBC's global ECA drive Eli Hassine, Deputy General Manager and Group Head, Export and Agency Finance for the Americas Division at SMBC, has been promoted to Global Head of Export and Agency Finance - a reflection of SMBC's own globalisation of its trade-related activities, as well as the success that Hassine has made of the export and agency finance role during the past year. In this new role Hassine's brief includes strengthening SMBC's agency platform in the Americas and across Europe, as well as sharpening SMBC's focus on cross-border buyer's credit and untied programmes. Hassine joined SMBC in April 2008 from Citigroup in New York, where he was Global Head of Export and Agency Finance, along with his Deputy Head, Mini Roy.
