Elden Tefft
Elden Tefft will be exhibiting his newest bronze sculptures at the Lawrence Arts Center. At age 94, Elden is still active in his studio. This exhibit will feature his newest works and supporting displays that show Tefft's process and place in the history of American bronze casting. Tefft was the founder of the International Sculpture Center and its conferences. Beginning in the late 1940s his experimental research in bronze casting and international travel provided the founding basis for the early conferences. He has continued this emphasis on bronze founding research as director of the Kansas Sculpture Research Center, dispersing the resulting technology through publications, workshops, and teaching around the world. His own work maintains an emphasis on bronze although he also works in stone and other media. He is the recipient of the first Governor's Art's, Life Time Achievement Award in Art Education and received an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts., 8 May 2015 [cached]
