Thank you to Elaine Viders for making many important points. Too many Jews, both male and female forget! The comments of Elaine M. Viders, Esq. on Judaism and feminism are important and refreshing. There is a tendency to think of what is "right" as a recognized political "right" in the U.S.A. For Jews, however, what is right has a different source: Torah. Political freedom, or civil rights, gives the right to make a choice. What, however, is the moral/ethical guidance on what choice is right? Judaism gives answers---ones which are rooted in ancient wisdom and the highest possible authority. Ms. Viders well reminds us that the roles of the sexes are rooted in Halakah and the thousands of years of tradition; it is not---and should not be---the product of what is popular in the narrow slice of history in which we live. The author Elaine M. Viders is missing an important point. Elaine M. Viders, Esq. Elaine M. Viders, Esq., is an adjunct Professor of Law at Touro Law School.
