Mystic - Eileen Frusher Welt , 87 , of Punta Gorda , Fla. , formerly of Mystic , died Friday at
She was born on Feb. 17 , 1914 , in West Mystic , the daughter of Tom Frusher Jr. and Margaret Newcomb Frusher.
She married S. Alvah Welt on May 7 , 1935 , in Kingston , R.I..He died in 1985.
Mrs. Welt attended the former Williams Memorial Institute in New London , and graduated with the first graduating class from Fitch High School in Groton.
In her earlier years , she worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and several area businesses , including the former Juvenile Shop in New London.She retired from Electric Boat in Groton as an administrative assistant in the machine shop on the same date as her husband retired from the company.
After their retirement , the couple moved to Florida.
Mrs. Welt was a former member of the Mystic Congregational Church , the Mystic River Historical Society , and the Noank Historical Society.She was a member of the Medical Center Auxiliary of Punta Gorda , and a member of the River Forest Women's Club , where she often modeled in the annual luncheon/fashion shows.She was also a frequent Red Cross blood donor.
She is survived by a daughter , Patricia Dunn of Noank ; a son , Robert Welt of Mystic ; a sister , Virginia Frusher Niebling of Mystic ; five grandchildren ; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband , she was predeceased by two brothers , Tom Frusher III , and J. Billings Frusher.
Graveside services and burial in Starr Burying Ground will take place at a later date.
