This comes after Baker Mitchell filed a defamation lawsuit against former Brunswick County Schools Superintendent Edward Pruden.
When reached for comment, Dr. Edward Pruden provided a statement.
"The absolute and ultimate defense is truth," Pruden wrote. "Therefore, I am not concerned."
Mitchell didn't care to speak about his relationship with Pruden.
I also told you the Court would allow "punitive damages" in some amount so Pruden and others as well will know the law says People as well as the Defendant Slanderer must be punished for telling lies about others.
Pruden says his defense is "the truth. Before I filed the lawsuit seeking only an apology and the truth, Pruden told me he would have his lawyer call me. Turns out that's not the truth either.

Pruden says Brunswick Co.
Edward Pruden
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Brunswick County School Superintendent Edward Pruden has gone on the offensive against the school board, which he says plans to oust him at a meeting Wednesday.
In an e-mail sent to media this afternoon, Pruden says the board's special meeting called for 9 a.m. Wednesday is to consider his immediate termination. Pruden says the day after Election Day, he was asked to resign effective immediately.
Pruden announced earlier this year he was stepping down as superintendent at the end of his contract on June 30, 2015.
"I stand ready, willing and able to complete my contract and work for the students and community until June 30," Pruden said. "I do not understand the board's decision to change leadership so abruptly, seven months prior to my scheduled departure. This could result in two transitions in the superintendency prior to the beginning of the next school year."
Pruden has been superintendent since July 1, 2010.
WWAY is working to speak with Pruden about his e-mail and follow up with school board members about Wednesday's meeting.

School Board votes to terminate Pruden
Edward Pruden
On Wednesday, the school board voted to terminate the contract of Superintendent Edward Pruden, effective November 30.
The Brunswick County School Board last week called a special meeting for 9 a.m. today, including a closed session to talk about personnel. The meeting lasted about three hours, with the decision to terminate the contract passing 3-2.
Pruden says the decision was abrupt.
"I think it is the cumulative effect of a number of tough issues over the years," Pruden said.
The Brunswick County Board of Education released a statement following the decision.
"The Board voted today to unilaterally terminate Dr. Edward Pruden's employment pursuant to Section 18 of his contract. The Board has determined that it would like to begin its transition to a new superintendent at this time. The Board has calculated that the buyout of Dr. Pruden's contract will result in a payment to Dr. Pruden in an amount less than $130,000. The Board believes this decision is in the best interest of the Brunswick County Schools."
Monday, Superintendent Edward Pruden said the board told him after Election Day that he would be fired if he did not resign.
Pruden announced earlier this year that he would leave the district when his contract expires at the end of June 2015. WWAY's Sarah Murphy asked why they decided to fire Pruden before that date.
Pruden says he's holding his head high and he plans to work again.
"Because I've done a good job. Because I have the support of the teacher and the community," Pruden said.
I can unequivocally say that Dr. Edward Pruden has been a great leader. He has rallied us to make decisions for the kids, he is both ethically and morally driven, and he is not a puppet who could be handled by the board.
Dr. Ed Pruden is a man who has given over 40 years to education, my hope is that his memories of those experiences are of all the lives he's touched and not this horrific display of abuse of power. My professional journey is richer for knowing him. If I'm not mistaken I believe the BCS Board owes the county money that they have pocketed, hopefully this will go towards a severance package he deserves.
Disgusted and dismayed, if Karma exists I hope it finds Dr. Pruden well and allows the board to reap what they sow.
I am no fan of the existing board, but I agree with the decision to get rid of Pruden. He is an arrogant man who cannot be bothered to even talk to parents when they call his office with concerns. His incompetent, rude and unfriendly assistant is the only person with whom the parents can communicate. There is one meeting where Pruden said that the parents of Brunswick County needed to be reprogrammed.
My tax money was wasted when Pruden started spending more time poking his nose into how charter schools operate than how Brunswick County public schools operate. When he stated that the change of curriculum this year caused the test scores to be lower that was bull. Charter schools also had to follow changes in their curriculum and they still mastered it and excelled. So why is Pruden wounded now? He will get close to $130,000 so he can move a bit sooner and go see his grandchild left behind in another state. He does serve at the pleasure of the board and the voters elected that board. If you didn't vote, then maybe you should have. I voted and I got who I preferred and I am happy with their decision to boot Pruden. I just hope that the person they replace him with stays focused on his/her own job and not that of the charter schools who do more with less.
If Dr. Pruden is terminated...
