Dr. Edward Dawson
...Dr. Dawson has served as a music educator, choral adjudicator, choral director, and clinic consultant for approximately 20 years from Pre-K to College level both for the academic and also sacred music disciplines; for such organizations as the Michigan School Vocal Music Association, Michigan Midwestern Conference on Vocal and Instrumental Music, Michigan Music Educators Multicultural Association, International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and the Gospel Music Workshop of America to name a few.Presently, he serves as full-time Minister of Music at Fisher Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Phoenix and has become an active participant in the South Mountain College community.
...Edward Dawson is a native of Detroit, Michigan where he was educated in the Detroit Public School system culminating his high school education at Cass Technical High School where he graduated from the Vocational Music Curriculum.
A musically gifted child from the age of 4, he
has had instruction on piano, organ, harpsichord, and harp over the years.He holds the Bachelor of Music Education (specializing in voice) from Olivet College in Michigan and a Master of Conducting Performance from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.He is a licensed and ordained minister with experience in serving as Assistant and Interim Pastor while holding the position of Minister of Music positions in various church denominations.While holding these positions, he was given a scholarship to Lake Charles Bible College and Seminary where he received the Doctor of Ministry degree with honors.
