Edward K. Chandler, Co-Vice Chairman For 30 years, Edward K. Chandler has been an active investor in early-stage technology ventures. He manages Longboat Ventures, a seed investment fund with a diverse portfolio of investments in software, information technologies, technology-levered business services, social marketing, clean energy, biotechnology, and medical services. Previously, he was founder and Managing Director of Portage Ventures, the general partner of the Portage Venture Funds, the Graystone Venture Fund and the Draper Fisher Jurvetson Portage Fund, which in aggregate invested over $170 million in early-stage companies and venture partnerships. In 1990, Chandler formed Prairie Capital to acquire the venture portfolio of the Continental Illinois Bank, whose venture capital affiliates he joined in 1984. From 1980 to 1982, he was an Associate with the Boston Consulting Group. Chandler holds an MBA from Harvard University, where he graduated with High Distinction as a Baker Scholar in 1984. He earned a BA in economics, magna cum laude, from Yale University in 1980. In addition to his business activities, Chandler has served as an officer and director of several non-profit organizations, including the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Lake Forest Country Day School, and Lake Forest Open Lands Association. He is a Trustee of the Otho Sprague Memorial Institute, a granting foundation which conceives and supports innovative non-profit programs in medical research and care.

Edward Chandler is a founder and managing director of Portage Venture Partners, which manages the Portage, DFJ Portage, and Graystone Venture Funds. He currently manages the firm's investments in Aleri, Centerpost, Cythera, MobileAware, Pericor Science and Vbrick Systems.
Prior to forming Portage and Graystone, Chandler was a founder and the managing principal of Prairie Capital, a venture capital investment firm formed in 1990 to acquire a venture portfolio from the private equity investment subsidiary of Continental Bank.
