Edith Pearson has been named vice president of development at the college, and executive director of the Broward Community College Foundation.
...Edith Pearson, Vice President of DevelopmentExecutive Director, BCC FoundationEdith Pearson comes to the college and BCC Foundation from the American Red Cross of Greater New York where she managed 10 Red Cross chapters and service centers serving nine million metropolitan residents.Pearson, who served in that post for six years, managed a staff of 22 and directed all local fundraising, marketing, community relations, media relations, volunteer recruitment and community programs.Prior to joining the American Red Cross, Pearson was a senior fundraising consultant with Raybin Associates in Greenwich, Conn., director of development with the YMCA of Greater New York, capital campaign director for the Police Athletic League in New York, and development officer with the United Nations International School in New York, among others.Pearson

"I think (experience with prominent institutions) makes you savvy and wise about the way large institutions operate," Pearson
said."It's the kind of thing you can only learn by doing. ...This is a nice contrast to what I've been doing.The work is still the same but it's a different type of nonprofit."
