It's disgusting when you spend that much time and effort in manpower and equipment to clean up the area and already you have recurring illegal dumping , said Henderson County Road Supervisor Eddie Thompson
, who discovered the dump at about 7 : 30 a.m. Thursday.Thompson
, who helped supervise the two-day cleanup that began under the bridges Tuesday , said he
stopped by Thursday morning to see how the area looked.
I said 'I cannot believe this , ' Thompson
said of his
reaction upon seeing the pile.
It's frustrating to us to have to clean it back up , Thompson
said. But it should be more frustrating to the taxpayers because it's their money being used to clean it up..Thompson
thought the discarded pile probably used to be an out-building or a large doghouse and that there was no evidence with the debris to identify who dumped it.The county
is asking anyone with information about the dumping to call the road department at 826-8843 or 827-6027.
Anyone who is caught illegally dumping on county property faces a $ 500 fine and/or one year in jail.
They will definitely be prosecuted to the utmost , Thompson
Also , local police have been asked to stop by the area more frequently , and Ellis Park has volunteered to have their security officers also check on the site and report the license plates of anyone seen illegally dumping , Thompson
