Ed Shanklin serves as Senior Consultant for Gavion and offers specific experience with public plans, educational endowments, healthcare and not-for-profit institutions.

Ed began his career in financial services with Precision Asset Management Company in Los Angeles, California in 1990.

Ed is a St. Augustine High School graduate and a graduate of Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana receiving an associate degree in Engineering Technology, with emphasis on the Sugar Industry. He also graduated from Southern University at New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Ed was formally the Director of the New Orleans office of Melvin & Company, an investment-banking firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. In his current position, he is responsible for public finance projects and investment management consulting services.
In the former role of infrastructure investment banker, he participated as underwriter of an $86 million bond issue with Jefferson Parish; post Katrina he served as underwriter of an $88 million and $100 million Passenger Facility Charge bond issue with the New Orleans International Airport. In the role of asset manager, Shanklin collaborated with the Edgar Lomax Company where they managed a $20 million portfolio with the New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board Retirement System from 2002-2005.
His entrepreneurial spirit lead him to further his success by launching Jackson, Shanklin, Sonia, LLC, an investment-banking firm where he served as senior managing partner. There, Shanklin served as the chief architect in the formation of the Liberty Freedom Fund, in conjunction with Liberty Bank & Trust.
Prior to forming his own firm, Shanklin used his investment skills with a southern regional firm, where he assisted the firm of Wertheim Schroeder with a $140 million investment portfolio for the Orleans Levee District and a $200 million investment portfolio with the Louisiana School Employees'™ Retirement System. Shanklin began his career in 1990, with Precision Asset Management Company in Los Angeles, California. Serving as research analyst, the firm garnered $10 million in assets under management.
He has served on the boards of numerous community and service organizations. As a parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker, he has served on the elementary school board and served as a youth minister to the Impact Youth Group ages nine thru twelve. Shanklin served as Chairman of the New Orleans Affordable Housing board and is a board member of the National Community and Justice (NCCJ). He also serves on the Dryades YMCA board, which oversees the James Singleton Elementary Charter School. He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
