Is Mayor Ed Mitchell
trying to buy County Employee votes with Tax Money?
In the middle of the fiscal year, Mayor Ed Mitchell is pushing for a $539,100 budget increase (Item F1c) , to give full time County employees a $1,000 bonus and part time employees a $500 bonus.
This is in addition to the 3% pay increase the employees were already given.
During his first year in office, Mayor Mitchell held a town hall style meeting for County employees who were outraged over budget cuts.
I attended the meeting and several of the employees were rude and hostile toward the few taxpayers present.
That kind of behavior would get you fired in the private world.
The employees should have been ashamed of their behavior and treatment of those paying their salaries, but when you live on stolen money (taxation is theft), it probably doesn't register in your brain to appreciate your employers since you can take their houses if they don't pay your salary.
I don't recall Mayor Mitchell ever having a town hall meeting for the citizens of Blount County, although he has spoken to civic groups.
Hopefully a good candidate for Mayor will emerge and the taxpayers of Blount County
can send Ed Mitchell
With all due respect Mayor Mitchell, these safety precautions are not provided to municipal water customers!
