Ed Mattson of Chico, chair of the Child Care Food Program Roundtable, the group pushing for public awareness about the reauthorization, said California care providers who do take part are feeling the pressure.
"In California with the high cost of living, a lot of providers are having a difficult time," he said. But, with the government's help, the program can make a difference for children. "Helping to reduce obesity across the state is part of our message," he said.
