On Jan. 4, Akerly will go to Wesleyville Borough Hall and stand before Mayor E. Paul Johnson II, who will swear in Akerly as a Borough Council member.

Johnson, Wesleyville's mayor for 18 years, said he doesn't believe Akerly's criminal case will "cause any problems." "There's seven people on council," said Johnson, 51, a Democrat who was re-elected mayor on Nov. 3.
Johnson, the mayor, asked Alward to resign, saying it would help restore harmony to the borough. Alward said this week that the dispute ended up unfairly pitting her against the Police Department. "I held my ground," she said. Alward, a Democrat, unsuccessfully ran for Wesleyville mayor in 1997 against Johnson -- who will swear in her son on Jan. 4. "It's all water under the bridge now," Johnson said.

William Wittenburg, Wesleyville Borough Manager, welcomed County Council to Wesleyville on behalf of Wesleyville Mayor E. Paul Johnson II, Borough Council President Terry St. Denny, the entire Borough Council and Borough staff, Richard Brine, President of the Erie County Association of Boroughs, and the citizens of Wesleyville.

Wesleyville's mayor, E. Paul Johnson, appeared before the Lawrence Park commissioners this week to lobby for it.

"It's going to be a big savings for Lawrence Park and a little savings for Wesleyville," Johnson said."I just don't want to see it come to a halt."
Johnson said Hooker's budget would mean a savings of $100,000 a year for Lawrence Park and a savings of between $20,000 and $30,000 a year for Wesleyville.
Johnson said Wesleyville and Lawrence Park have talked about merging their police departments for 11 years and have gone through two studies.
