As chief financial officer and vice president, Systems Development and Performance, Duncan is responsible for a range of areas including Financial Services, General Counsel and Legal Services, Facilities & Property Management, Strategic Planning, Business Initiatives and Support Services, Decision Support, Internal Audit, Supply Chain & Logistics, Transformation Initiatives and IMIS.
He brings considerable local and international experience to Vancouver Coastal Health, having held senior positions in finance and accounting, operations, strategic planning, turnarounds and merger integration.
He has held the position of CFO and chief buyer for a major specialist retail chain and has worked as an executive level consultant for Deloitte, Gemini Consulting, PwC Consulting, IBM and Merger Integration Partners.
has extensive experience in leading and successfully delivering transformational change - with a particular emphasis on retaining and developing talent - for a diverse range of industries including forest and paper, financial services, manufacturing, retail, and health care.
Duncan attended the University of Witwatersrand where he obtained his Bachelor of Accounting and Master of Business Administration degrees, followed by his designation as Chartered Accountant (CA) in South Africa and British Columbia.
