Duane Leifur

...
Duane Leifur, who resigned from the department on July 17, 2007, was arrested Friday morning on a single count of sexual battery by a law enforcement officer, and unlawful compensation. He was released on his own recognizance, though he must wear a GPS monitoring system and is not to contact the woman.
Leifur, 38, of Gulf Breeze was charged following an investigation by the Gulf Breeze Police Department, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Office of the State Attorney.
The sexual-battery charge is a first-degree felony, with a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. The compensation charge is a second-degree felony with a maximum of 15 years in prison.
According to the arrest warrant, Leifur pulled the woman over in April on suspicion of drunken driving.Rather than administer field-sobriety tests, he took her home in his patrol car.He reminded her that he previously had arrested her husband and asked if she wanted to be arrested.
Leifur gave her his card and insisted she call him.Because she wasn't sure how much trouble Leifur could cause for her, the warrant said she called him the next day, and he made her feel grateful for not arresting her.He also told her that although he had a girlfriend, he needed more sex.
The victim told investigators that during the next few months, she and the officer engaged in sex acts at least 20 times at her home and about 30 times at his home.
They also sometimes engaged in sex acts in his patrol car, she said.
The victim said the encounters would sometimes occur daily, every other day or sometimes twice or thrice daily.
All of these incidents occurred while Leifur was on duty, according to the warrant.
"The victim stated that this was making her insane, and she did not know whether to report it, as she feared possible retaliation and harm to her family," the warrant stated."The victim stated that she felt Officer Leifur did things to her that he would never do to his girlfriend."
Records show that between April 14 and July 12, Leifur used his police cell phone to call the victim 287 times, while she called him 68 times, usually after he called her.
