My personal favorite is The Squeal, a takeoff on Munch's The Scream. (Hammond's) pigs really capture expressions with their faces ... does reseach so his subjects ... so that they are convincing. There's just a lot of really good jokes in there.'He tries to say that what really inspired him is you go into a museum and see all these wonderful paintings on the wall, but all the people have serious expressions on their faces,' Marion said. 'Everyone has such long serious faces. 'Why can't there be one gallery or museum where everyone is laughing?''Marion said that Hammond has gotten that humorous exhibit to exist with a showing of his own at a gallery in Manchester.
...
'My art is not cartooning,' said Hammond in a press release, 'but original fine art paintings.
...
Overall, Hammond has more than 85 paintings of pigs, 51 of which are in the book.
...
And the topics for Hammond seem to have no end as others have offered piggy-punned ideas to the artist.'Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and have to write down a title that's just come into my head,' said Hammond in a press release, 'but I also get suggestions from poeple.
...
Semi-retired, Hammond spends his time painting pastels and watercolors. He has won several awards for his work and his paintings are on exhibit and for sale throughout New Hampshire in many galleries. He is a member of the New Hampshire Artists Association, Manchester Art Association, Sharon Art Center and the Durham Art Association. His painting style includes impressionism and realism.
