When it's in the pig-loving hands of Duane Hammond
and Beech River Books
.The Alton fine art painter and Center Ossipee independent book publisher teamed up for an irreverent and satirical collection of porky art and pig tails, er, tales.Hammond
recently released book, 'Pigs ina Poke, Collection #1,' is being featured at the Ossipee Public Library
on Wednesday, April 4, from 7 to 8 p.m.

as printed on the book, is a 1964 Buckingham Scholarship graduate from the Museum School of Fine Arts
in Boston.Immediately after graduation, until 1969, he worked as a graphic designer and art director for advertising agencies in New Hampshire and Boston.
In 1969 he
own graphic design company, The Magnificent Art Machine, and in 1981 the name was changed to Hammond Design Associates, Inc.
For 39 years, Hammond
produced award-winning sales and marketing literature and advertising materials for many businesses.Some of his
national and multi-national clients included EG&G, Inc.

, Bell & Howell
and Compaq plus manufacturers, financial institutions and non-profit organizations.He
has won many awards for his
design including two N.H. Graniteer Best of Show Awards, Hatch Awards, Boston and New York Art Directors Awards, Desi Awards and more than 35 others from recognized trade groups.He
has also had his
work published in such prestigious magazines as PRINT and CA.Hammond
and Marion met through a MicroCredit group in Wolfeboro, as they were each seeking business help starting new businesses.
My personal favorite is The Squeal, a takeoff on Munch's The Scream. (Hammond's) pigs really capture expressions with their faces ... does reseach so his
subjects ... so that they are convincing.There's just a lot of really good jokes in there.'He tries to say that what really inspired him is you go into a museum and see all these wonderful paintings on the wall, but all the people have serious expressions on their faces,' Marion said. 'Everyone has such long serious faces. 'Why can't there be one gallery or museum where everyone is laughing?''Marion said that Hammond
has gotten that humorous exhibit to exist with a showing of his own at a gallery in Manchester.
'My art is not cartooning,' said Hammond
in a press release, 'but original fine art paintings.

And the topics for Hammond
seem to have no end as others have offered piggy-punned ideas to the artist.'Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and have to write down a title that's just come into my head,' said Hammond
