Doyle Wolverton, a longtime girl's basketball coach at Leake Academy in Madden, Miss., has resigned after being accused of biting a player in the face, according to local police.
Wolverton, who has been at the school since 1975, allegedly bit a player during a timeout in a Nov. 12 game, according to Leake County Sheriff Greg Waggoner.
Neither the school nor Wolverton
would confirm that the coach had resigned, but a school official said that the school would have a statement on Tuesday.
"I have no comment on any of that," Wolverton
told The Clarion-Ledger on Monday.
