AVAA President Douglas Noffsinger, Ph.D., chaired the meeting which included a national office report by Lucille Beck, Ph.D., discussions on hearing aid contract issues, training sessions on the new Remote Order Entry System (ROES), and a spirited panel discussion on the future of the profession, with AAA President Angela Loavenbruck, Ed.D., ASHA President Nancy Creaghead, Ph.D., Vic Gladstone, Ph.D., Chief of Staff for Audiology, ASHA, and Elizabeth Hoehl, B.S., President NAFDA.
The Editorial Board of Ear and Hearing presented the Editor's Award for Outstanding Research in Audiology and the Hearing Sciences for 2001 to Donald D. Dirks, Sumiko Takayanagi, Anahita Moshfegh, P. Douglas Noffsinger
, and Stephen A. Fausti for their publication entitled "Examination of the Neighborhood Activation Theory in Normal and Hearing Impaired Listeners" , Ear and Hearing, Volume 22, 2001.

...Dr. Noffsinger is responsible for clinical and research activities in Audiology and Speech Pathology at the VA West Los Angeles (WLA) Health Care Center.He also chairs the VA National Field Advisory Council for Audiology and Speech Pathology, and serves on the Institutional Review Board for GLA.He
has 32 years of post-doctoral experience in hearing and has been funded by various NIH/NIDCD, VA Rehabilitation Research and Development, and private foundation grants since 1973.Dr. Noffsinger is the Participating Investigator at West Los Angeles for Dr. Fausti's multi-site ototoxicity monitoring study entitled, "Comparison of Objective and Behavioral Techniques for Early Detection of Ototoxicity."
