Rev. Douglas E. Milliron
Rev. Milliron, better known as Pastor 'Doug', received appointment into the Louisiana Annual Conference in 1982 following the counsel of Revs.
Rev. Milliron came to us with three years prior service in The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Missouri and five years service with The Assemblies of God Church in Kansas and Louisiana. Rev. Milliron earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theological and Historical Studies at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1974. And while serving our Louisiana churches full-time and attending school part-time Rev. Milliron earned a Master of Theological Studies at Southern Methodist University Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, Texas, 1990. This was in fulfillment of the Course of Study School and the Board of Ordained Ministry requirements for his ordination credentials to transfer into our conference. Interestingly, although Rev. Milliron's Elders Orders were recognized, he lacked recognition of being in "full-connection" as an Elder. Humorously, some considered Rev. Milliron a 'dis-connected Elder' for a season. Further requirements of the Advanced Course Study School and the Board of Ordained Ministry were expected which led Rev. Milliron to complete an additional 24 hours of post-graduate work at Texas Christian University Brite Divinity School in Fort Woth, Texas concluding in 1993. After fourteen years of persistence the Louisiana Annual Conference and Board of Ordained Ministry recognized Rev. Milliron being in Full-Connection among the Elders of the United Methodist Church, 1997. Rev. Milliron has served the Louisiana Annual Conference for 31 years.
'The imperative of mission giving birth to the church' has been the signal feature of Rev. Milliron's ministry with the poor in our local churches where he and his wife Monabeth, and their four children lived and served.
Rev. Milliron had a presence on the Conference Board of Global Ministries from 1993-2011, and served as Conference Mission Secretary 1998 to 2010.
The Milliron's son and three daughters and their families actively serve our Lord; Rev. and Mrs. Milliron's son, Rev. Joshua Milliron, is an Ordained Elder in Full-Connection in the Louisiana Annual Conference.
During Incapacity Leave in past years due to Doug's health, Doug and Monabeth have made their home in Ruston in a lovely two bedroom two bath condo provided by the Retired Minister's Home Board.
