was born on Oct. 7, 1951 in Milwaukee, WI at St. Joseph's Hospital
.His childhood years were spent in Janesville, WI and he attended St. William's Grade School, Sacred Heart Military Academy in Watertown, WI and St. Thomas Military Academy in St. Paul, MN before graduating from Parker High School in 1969 and attending UW-Madison.At age 15 he was catcher on the Babe Ruth team that went to the National Tournament in Douglas, AZ in 1966.He
interest in baseball after he
moved to Portland, OR, where he
has resided since 1972.He
met Merrily Jean Kenton in 1978, and four years later they became the parents of their only child, Celina Rosily Fugate.The same year Celina was born Doug bought a home on Jennings Avenue, in the Portland area, and also started Freight King Enterprises, Inc., an interstate trucking company, of which he was very proud.
Celina brought much joy and love to Doug's life.The family spent time together camping, traveling and enjoying many other outdoor activities like fishing and clam digging.They traveled often to the Oregon coast and Swift Creek Reservoir and on the Lewis River in Washington state, which was one of their favorite spots.There they loved to watch the meteor showers while lying on top of the picnic table with the mountains and a bright moon above.Doug

daughter, Celina Rosily Fugate; her
mother, Jean; parents, Earl and Faye Fugate of Janesville; 5 brothers and 2 sisters: Stephen (Debra) of Milwaukie, OR, Dennis (Janet) of Janesville, WI, Thomas of Milton, WI, Susie of Beloit, WI, Sandra Northey (Michael) of Rome, WI, Richard (Darcy) of Edgerton, WI, and John (Victoria) of Janesville, WI; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
